Civic Tour

CIVIC TOUR IS NOW FINISHED!

This page will be updated daily with information all about the Civic Tour that Good Charlotte and New Found Glory are headlining.  I will have interviews and pictures.  There are some pictures of the Good Charlotte car that the band designed.  The car will be won by someone but unfortenatly the contest is only for Americans.  Sorry if you wanted the car cause I know I did! Anyways the concert that the band is playing that day will be shown above in green and pink.  I will also have a count down to the Toronto show and then for the Montreal show since they are the only Canadian shows. Also I will soon have messages about the tour from Good Charlotte when they are on the road. So keep cheaking back here to see how the tour is going.

Good Charlotte

April 19th, 2003
Good Charlotte, New Found Glory, Less Than Jake and The Getaway...

I went to see the Toronto concert on April 19th.  It was fucking amazing.  The first band to play was the Getaway.  They are a local band from Toronto.  They were pretty good and you guys should cheak them out.   You can download their music on Kazza or any of those programs.  Less Than Jake was next and they kicked ass.  Thats when everyone really started moshing.  Everyone was going crazing but it was so much fun.  After Less Than Jake, Good Charlotte came out.  Everyone went wild!  Good Charlotte was awsome.  They really got the crowd going.  Before they sang Hold On Benji talked about suicide.  He was really deep about the whole thing.  He was saying how to many people are lost to suicide and that if any of their fans died from it to them its like losing a friend.  It was really deep... When they sang riot girl Benji talked about what kind of girl he wanted to spend the rest of his life with.  He said something like this : "The only kind of girl i wanna spend the rest of my life with is a PUNK ROCK CHICK! So then when we are 99 and our tattoes are faded and wrinked we will be the uglyest couple ever and we will still have sex to NOFX!"  He was really funny through out the show.  They sang new songs and old songs.  Some of the old songs were Little Things, Waldorf World Wide, and some other ones.  After GC, New Found Glory came out.  They were alright but they could do better.  But they were still awsome.  At the end of the show Good Charlotte came out with New Found Glory and performed My Friends Over You together.  That was pretty awsome.  The whole night was amazing.  I will try to get some pictures up for you guys to see.

MESSAGES
June 2003
INVALID MONTH NaN,
Joel
Santa Barbara, CA

Hey everybody!  Here we are at the end of the tour.  We had a really great time.  It was awesome touring with our best friends and meeting all of you guys out on the road.  Some highlights of the tour for me were playing death-metal-dodge ball and in Seattle when they opened up the Seahawks Stadium so we could play football at midnight.  My favorite shows had to be Denver when Benji got his tooth pulled and came out halfway through the set, when we played Chris' hometown of Salt Lake City and when we played our hometown in DC.  But honestly every show was really awesome and I wish we could go back around the country and play every city one more time.

We will be back in the fall, so it won't be too long.  I hope all of you kids had fun and if you didn't get to make it out to any of the shows, hopefully we will see you in the fall.  Thanks for giving us all of these good memories.

Much love and respect to New Found Glory, MXPX, Less Than Jake, The Disasters, Stretch Armstrong, Hot Rod Circuit and The Movielife, all the people on our production and our crews, all the Honda people and of course all you guys.   Thanks a lot and we'll see you at the show.

Hey guys, what up?  We are in beautiful Lincoln, NE today.  I still need a shower and my breath is kicking.  The shows have been going amazing.  MXPX is out with us now and they are the shiznit.  Their new CD is, in my opinion, the best thing they have ever done.  So make sure you come out early to see them play the new songs.  As far as us and NFG, I hate them so much and I can't wait until this tour with them is over.  Nah, I was just FOOLIN.  Everything is just hunky dory.  We are still all best friends.  We get to listen to them try out new songs while they are sound checking and it sounds pretty good.  So if you want to come have the loudest raunchiest sweatiest night of rock in your life, then you should be coming to this show.  And if you don't come, you will die.  Just kidding.  For those that missed us this time around, GC will be back in the fall, but the tour won't be the same without our boys.  There are only a couple weeks left and I have been having the time of my life.  So thank you for making all this possible.

Peace.  Keep coming cause we love to see ya.

See you at the show.

Hey everybody!  What's up?  Right now I am sitting in South Carolina and its really hot and I am sweating, but other than that, everything is great.  We are in our 5th week of this tour and MXPX is finally here.  Everybody is really happy.  All the shows so far have been really good.  I have met a lot of really cool kids out here and I wish I could give them all cars, but I think half the cars are already gone.  So that sucks, but I still give them other stuff , so that's cool.  I got to see my mom a week ago.  That was cool, but she still tried to yell at me and tell me I cuss too much.  So I am working on it.  Damn, it's hard.  We got to play Letterman and it was cool because he makes everyone clear the halls when he walks through, so when we were done playing and he came over, we all gave him big hugs and pounds. And we wrecked all our stuff.  I could tell he hated it, but we thought it was funny.  We are on our way to Florida and I think we are going to try and go to Disneyworld.  So if any of you guys live there, maybe we will see you.  I'd say the best part of this whole tour besides some lucky kids winning fat cars, is the after party.  We have a lot of fun, but none of us can dance.  If you come to a show, try to make your way back.  Jordan from NFG is a HORRIBLE dancer, but Chad is OK.  That's about it.  Thanks to everyone who has come to the shows so far.  We are having fun thanks to you guys.

See you at the show,

Joel

Hey kids whats up?  I must say that this tour is the most killer tour of all time.  If you have come, you know what I'm talking about and if you haven't yet... just wait.  Less Than Jake are the biggest partiers and they are showing us how to really tour.  You gotta make sure you come early enough to check out all the bands.  For all of you that have come thank you so much for making these shows so cool.  You guys rule!  The Canadian shows were the biggest and best shows we've ever done up there.  New Found Glory, who happen to be some of my best friends ever, are playing right now as I'm typing this (Head On Collision to be exact) and I just realized that I'm not out there watching my boy's rock out and see Ian make really stupid faces.  So I'm gonna go.  Thanks again for everybody who has come, you've made every night surreal and magical.  To the cities we've yet to hit, see you at the show.

Grand Forks, ND

Hey this is from Billy from Good Charlotte.  What's up everyone? So we are only 3 days into the tour so far, and if the first few shows were any indication of what to expect, this tour is going to be amazing!  It hardly feels like the beginning of a tour, it's like a giant high-school reunion of familiar faces, which really makes things a lot more fun. We met up in North Dakota to kick everything off, our evening consisted of finding our way to a local karaoke bar, where by the end of the night Jordan from NFG had the whole bar singing along to Billy Joel's "Piano Man."  This is our first real U.S. tour for our new record and the fact that we get to do it with NFG, at venues like this, is a dream come true.  Back when we first met New Found Glory in 2000 we talked about touring together again a countless number of times and it finally came together at a really great point in both of our careers. I don't want to give away too many details about the show because you have to come see it for yourself, but it's the biggest light-show/stage setup that either band has ever had.

Hopefully we will get to see all of you at one of these shows; thanks so much to all of you who have bought tickets and made this tour happen....see you at the show!

Billy - To me Music is something that I've grown up with since as far back as I can remember, No one in my family was really a musician and music was something I discovered on my own just by curiosity. I've found that through the right music (which is different for everyone) you can use music to help you through hard times, or just help the time pass. I don't think I could ever explain exactly what music is to me, but I know it is and always will be a big part of my life.
Paul - Everything, music consumes me everyday. It is my personal most favorite form of art. Nothing can release emotions from within me as much as beautiful music. Thats pretty damn cool!! And I get to do it for a living. HA!!!

Have you ever had an Embarrassing Moment?

Joel - None
Benji - None
Billy - When we were in Germany on our last tour of Europe we had to play a German TV show. The show said they didnt need us to do a sound check because on European TV shows, it is custom to play to a taped track and only the vocals are live. So when it was time to play we went out on to the stage and I don't think even one kid in the audience knew what band we were and then they decided we should sound check. So for about 30 minutes I stood on stage pretending to play to a tape while a couple hundred German kids stared and laughed at me and were saying things in a language that I couldn't understand. I think you had to be there....
Paul - I vomit in public in front of the fans on numerous occasions. Pick any of them and thatll do.

Who are your Favorite Musicians?

Joel - Morrissey, Robert Smith
Benji - Joel, Billy and Paul
Billy - Any of the musicians I named in my favorite bands would count...I always like bands as a whole, I don't really have any specific favorite musicians, except Michael Jackson, he just rules..
Paul - Bjork, Frank Black, Miles Davis, Eric Valentine, Josh Freeze, Les Claypool

Whats your pick between Britney or Christina:

Joel - Fiona Apple
Benji -I think you know the answer to that
Billy - Neither, I think they are both overrated
Paul - Neither, give me Lil Kim - a real women

Hopeless GC Car

Press Interview

Joel On Building A Fan Base:

"we started getting a fan base on the east coast a couple of years after we started. I'd say it took us a good two years before we had kids coming continually to our shows.

Joel On The Custom Civic Si:

What we did with the Honda 2003 Si was we lowered it, of course, about two inches more than the standard Honda Civic. If you go to Waldorf [MD] you see a lot of Civics, you see a lot of Hondas in general. They're all lowered but none"are as nice as this Civic. Everything you could pretty much do, it's done. [Its] a beautiful car and I really wish I was taking it home, but some lucky kid will be the winner.

Joel On Hooking Up with Honda:

Working with Honda allows [us] to do things like keep our ticket prices lower. It just brought more to the tour for our fans, you know? It's made the tour that much better and it's been really cool too because now someone is going to win a really cool car.

Billy On A Fan Winning Their Car:

Just imagine being 16 and winning a great car designed by your favorite band. You can't get better than that, it's awesome!

Paul On Their Friendship with New Found Glory:

They're [New Found Glory] another band just like us, newer, younger band that is coming up. We know we have the greatest time in the world and we are completely happy with that. We are out to have the funest [sic] time that we can.

Joel On Touring With New Found Glory:

"they're [New Found Glory] some of our closest friends"so this tour is perfect. The timing was perfect and everything!

Benji On How The Band Has Grown:

You learn a lot from being out on the road. You make mistakes; you get taken advantage of and you sort of find out about the world. Then you try to come back with new views on it, you know, you kind of come back and you have opinions about society.

Billy On The Success Of "The Young and the Hopeless":

It felt kind of surreal to me. When I sit back and think how well this record is doing, I can't believe it. And the coolest thing about it is that we made our first record, we put ourselves out there to people, we toured for three years and we worked as hard as we could to get a fan base, and then we made a second record and then we [said] We're just going to put this out and it's up to our fans to buy the record, and they did and now all these people are buying the record. It's just cool to know that we have that many people who really support the band and that's why we're selling records and we all feel thankful.

Benji On The "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous" single:

Yeah, I was in the studio thinking about some people I saw out at night and I was thinking about how consumed they were with money and things. I was thinking how funny it would be if they knew what it was like not to have any of those things. So I started writing all those lyrics and it became a song. And Joel said, there are so many celebrities out there complaining about being a celebrity and there are so many kids out there that would do anything to make it and so many celebrities complaining, maybe they should just trade. But thats basically it. When you go to the Hollywood parties and stuff, I know our band we just stay for about 10 minutes and leave. We [think] we dont belong here and leave.

Joel On the "Anthem" Single:

"Anthem" is kind of like the answer to "Lifestyles." The "Anthem" is like here we are, you know what I mean? This is what we're into and this is who we are, these are our friends, these are the people that we love, this is the way we live. We don't want to subscribe to the status quo of anything. Whether it's going to college, getting a job . . .

Billy On Playing Live:

I think it's easy when you play live its instant gratification. You walk out on stage, the lights come on, you play the songs and the kids are there and you walk off the stage and you [think] "Whoa!" you know? It's just a rush.

Billy On Their Fans:

They look at our band and they see us changing because bands grow and bands do change, but it's not the complete drastic changes where theyre not even watching or listening to the same band. I think that our fans are supportive and happy that we do well.

Joel On Their Fans:

Our fans are straight up congratulatory, they say Congratulations we're proud of you, or something and we [say] Thank you, you're a part of it too, and I mean our fans are always gonna know because we're always going to show them in every way we can that we love them, that we are grateful to them. I feel that our fans are just like us. They're the same kind of people. That's kind of how we all understand each other.
